Switch on Hippocampus mode...

Hippocampus is a part in our brain that we use everytime we're trying to remember long term memory(ies). Now, writing this post is all about forcing my hippocampus to work a little bit more than usual coz it's been quite some days, and I want to capture the experience I had these last few days so I can also read it again sometimes. and I actually write this part of the post after I finished the rest of the story below. I will put some pictures later. So here it goes:

Thursday - Oct 26th - The Pre Conference

Start the "pre conference" with the LCs' EB. Pretty exciting day, started to see more people coming, and the conference atmosphere was growing even more and more. After all the sessions were finished (around 7.30pm), all of us went to chill out, ate some pizza and get acquainted with the LCs in the student bar. Around 10pm all the facilitators had a meeting with Aneesh as the chair of the conference for final preparation and empowered all of us before THE conference start the next day.

Friday to Sunday - Oct 27-29 - NTMS

A fantastic and Kick-ass Conference..!!!!
There were 135 delegates and total 25 nationalities in the conference (there's even 1 Indonesian guy in the Swedish delegation!!). The energy was amazing.
Very cool plenary room...
A very very nice hotel...
Incredibly active and positive delegates...
Excellent OC (salute..seriously..!!!)...
Outstanding facilitators team...and Hats off to Aneesh for being a superb chair...!!!

day 1

We started with a very energetic opening plenary, then continue with "global issues day" where we had sessions with externals around the issues of globalization and emerging markets, entrepreneurship, and energy. After that, we connected the issues that are happening around the world with our role as an individual, as an AIESEC member, and with AIESEC as an organization, finally finished all the sessions that day with a personal reflection time. And then off we go to the official dinner.

day 2

The 2nd day is all about making things happened..people are divided into separated tracks and sessions based on their functionals or role in AIESEC. The day ends with a P-party where everybody has to wear a costume or anything related with the letter "P"...in short, it was HILLARIOUS...!!!!

day 3

This day was more on personal goal setting and bring back home of what have been happening in the conference and how to use it when people go back to the LCs. After closing plenary, we (Aneesh and the facilitators) went to Burger King and recaped the whole conference and then people started to go to separated direction. Lars, Viktor, Børge, Magnus and me then went bar in the train station until around 10pm before everybody except me and Lars stayed coz we had our 6.5 hours train back to Oslo at 11pm....or to be exact, 10.58 pm :-)

Monday - Oct 30th - My birthday

It was a very nice and peaceful day. The train arrived in Oslo around 6.30 am, then Lars and me went to the MC flat. I had a chat with my mentee, Aidy, for a couple of hours then drop dead and slept til the afternoon. Then Annika also arrived at home as well.

I went out with Lars to buy some stuffs to make for dinner. Then had chicken with rice and salad while watching a movie that I've watched more than 3x already, Patch Adams (really love this movie!).

It was a very nice day, as I planned to have more self reflection on my birthday on what I've been using my life for. I always keep in my mind the first 2 questions from Imam Ghazali that I wrote in my previous posts. As the seconds I have in my life, the quantity, is decreasing, I want my quality of life to increase.

Tuesday - Oct 31st - Oslo is Great..!!!

If I had to say one thing that I really love about Oslo besides the places there the answer without any doubt will be CHEAP(er) BOOKS..!!!

Yesss, I went to 5 or 6 book stores in Oslo that day and bought quite some books. It's waaayy much cheaper compared to Iceland. Then i stopped at McDonald's, ate some food while reading my first book. When i went out it was snowing everywhere already. I walked home like walking in the biggest refrigerator on the world...it's so colddd...!!!!

Wednesday - Nov 1st - Nobel Peace Prize Museum and Going "home"

I went to the MC office, had lunch with Børge, then went to Nobel Peace Prize Museum. I was a bit in a rush coz after that I had to go to the airport to catch my flight back to Iceland at 4 pm.
As short as it is, it was still a very inspiring place. I really want to go back there again and really check the whole place...But yet again, I bought another book there...!!!! Hehehe.
I'm really thinking to go back to norway again sometimes :)

The funniest feeling, when the plane was about to land in Iceland, I unconsciously said to my self "aahh, I'm finally home".... I started to put Iceland as "my home".

Then, Thordis and Svetla baked birthday cakes..!!! and I got the best present...
an Icelandic movie!
As crazy as I am with movies, I never saw any Icelandic movie before, so that was my first Icelandic movie (called 101 Reykjavik), and it's a cool movie! Thank you guys :)

Plus, the package from my parents finally arrived. Some Indonesian food, a book I asked, AND THE VIDEO OF MY SISTER'S WEDDING.

Simply, it's a great day...and I'm very thankful for it.

with smile,
ali
